David Crowell - This World and Another
Project Description
This World and Another is an album of electro-acoustic music featuring Vicky Chow, Unheard-of//Ensemble, jazz guitarist Gregg Belisle-Chi (Tim Berne, Henry Threadgill), and myself on saxophones. The electronics are constructed almost entirely from granularly manipulated samples of the musicians themselves, and explore the fragility of memory and the power and evanescence of dreams.
The three pieces on the album - Memories of the Imagined, Exoplanet, and This World and Another - were specifically composed to appear together on this album, with all of the composing and production happening nearly continuously over the course of close to three years.
